NAT Class

The Japanese Language NAT-TEST is an examination that measures the Japanese language ability of students who are not native Japanese speakers. The tests are separated by difficulty (five levels) and general ability is measured in three categories: Grammar/Vocabulary, Listening, and Reading Comprehension. The format of the exam and the types of questions are equivalent to those that appear on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).

The NAT exam is divided into five levels, each with different focus areas. Here's a summary of what you will study and practice in each level:

Level 1:

  • Grammar: Learn word changes and sentence construction.
  • Writing: Practice using grammar in your own writing.
  • Reading: Understand short and medium-length passages, find information, and grasp the main idea.

Level 2:

Level 2 2Q builds upon Level 1, focusing on reading kanji, ensuring correct spelling, understanding word formation, grasping contextual nuances, identifying synonyms, and using words appropriately.

Level 3 3Q evaluates your proficiency in reading kanji, comprehending expressions, understanding context, identifying synonyms, and accurately applying words.

Level 4 4Q continues to assess your reading of kanji, spelling accuracy, contextual understanding, synonym identification, and appropriate word usage.
